How to spot an instalment scam and pay safely

Fake agents, fake links, calls asking for your MPIN. The few rules that keep your money safe.

Wherever people pay in instalments, someone tries to take the money on the way. A call from “Mobilistan” saying your phone will be locked in an hour unless you send money to this number. A WhatsApp link that looks almost like ours. Here is how to tell the real thing from a fake.

We will never ask for your MPIN or a code

Nobody from Mobilistan will ever ask you for your JazzCash MPIN, your PIN, or a code we sent you on WhatsApp. You type your MPIN only inside the JazzCash app, on your own phone. If anyone asks for it, on a call or in a message, hang up.

Pay only in these places

  • On our website: mobilistan.pk/pay. Check the address carefully, letter by letter.
  • In the Mobilistan app.
  • Through our helpline: 0370-8199951.

We never ask you to send money to someone’s personal JazzCash or bank account.

Check the request in JazzCash

When you pay with Tap to Pay, the request in JazzCash, under My Account and Payment Requests, comes from Mobilistan, for the amount our page showed you. If the name or the amount is different, don’t approve it.

Pressure is a warning sign

Our reminders come on set days, and a lock only happens at 3 pm on the third day after a missed due date. Nobody real will call demanding money within minutes. If a message makes you panic, stop and call our helpline from the number on our website.

If something feels wrong

Don’t pay. Call 0370-8199951 and tell us what happened. Keep the number that called you and a screenshot of any message. It takes two minutes to check, and it can save you a month’s instalment.

Still stuck? Call us on 0370-8199951.
