Why there is always an advance

The advance is simply the first part of the phone’s fixed price. You pay it only when you accept your Sale Agreement and collect your phone, then pay the rest in 3, 6 or 9 equal monthly instalments. It is not an extra fee: it is part of the price you agreed. Paying part of it at the start is what keeps every month smaller.

How small it can be today

Today the smallest advance on any phone is Rs 4,000. The lowest-priced phone, the Villaon V50s (32 GB · 3 GB RAM), needs an advance of Rs 4,000, then Rs 3,111 a month for 9 months.

Applying costs nothing

You don’t pay anything to apply. The advance is paid only when you accept the sale, after you have seen the total price, the advance and every due date. If you change your mind before that, nothing is charged.

If a plan says “no advance”

When a plan asks for no advance, the cost usually goes somewhere else: a bigger monthly instalment, a processing fee, or a markup for the time. Before you sign anything, ask for the one total price in writing, and ask whether anything is added if you pay late.
