Mobilistan and Al Hijrah sign a Sharia agreement for halal phone instalments

On 26 September 2026, Mobilistan and Al Hijrah Sharia Advisory Services signed an expanded Sharia advisory agreement at the Mobilistan office on Art School Road, Quetta. The same day, Al Hijrah issued Mobilistan’s Sharia Compliance Certificate for its Musawamah model of selling phones on qist.

What was signed

Al Hijrah has been Mobilistan’s Sharia advisor since January 2026. The new agreement widens that role to cover the whole Musawamah business: the way each sale is structured, the customer and partner-shop agreements, the order in which every transaction happens, and the controls that keep it Sharia-compliant.

Under it, Al Hijrah will:

• review the Musawamah structure and any change to it before it is used;
• review our agreements, policies and operating procedures;
• check real sample transactions from time to time, to confirm each phone was owned by Mobilistan before it was sold;
• point out anything that isn’t compliant, and tell us how to fix it;
• issue and renew the Sharia Compliance Certificate only while all of this holds.

Why it matters if you buy on qist

Most people who want a phone on instalments in Pakistan ask the same question first: is it halal, or is it interest with a different name? The honest answer is that it depends on how the sale is made. A Sharia-compliant phone instalment has to be a real sale, not a loan.

In Mobilistan’s Musawamah model, you choose a phone, Mobilistan buys that exact phone and owns it, and only then sells it to you at a fixed price paid in monthly instalments. The price never goes up if you pay late. There is no late fee.

An agreement on paper is only half of it. What this signing adds is someone independent checking that we keep doing it that way, sale after sale, with real transactions reviewed and the certificate renewed only if we pass.
